St. Patrick’s day is nearly here, and you can be so sure that this year St. Patrick’s Day will reflect the amazing talents and achievements of Irish people on many national and world platforms. Also, for the very first time, St. Patrick’s Day Festival will be appointing an International Guest of Honour, and he is one of the figures on the set of the popular movie Star Wars, Mark Hamill, for his role of Luke Skywalker – you shouldn’t miss this great event.

 Here are my top events you can’t afford to miss;

  • On Friday, you can catch the Little Museum experience at St. Stephen Green or a tour of the Pearse Lyons distillery in Dublin costing just €20 for adults and children under the age of 10 will get free entry. You can click for more details

Meanwhile, Cuala v Na Piarsaign – Hurling final at 3.45 pm. Remember that your ticket includes admission to the GAA Museum which is also worth a visit. Book here
  • The St Patrick’s Festival Parade, Saturday the 17th; This is the day when everyone wants to be Irish and it is set to swirl with colour, craic and pageantry. So find your shamrock, your finest green attire and join the parade beginning from the city centre; Parnell Square, Dublin 1 at 12pm. Remember, the theme is Home is Where the Heart is. Click here for more details
  • Patrick’s Festival 5K Road Race, Sunday 18th; As the only national holiday that is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other, there is a space for energetic festival goers. The annual Festival 5K Road Race will take its course through the heart of beautiful Georgian Dublin and it commences 1155am; The Start Line is on St. Stephens Green. Participants are encouraged to take a leisurely walk down to Merrion Square to relax and check out the Festival Big Day Out event. Click here for more details.

Why should you choose Tipperary House, Dublin?

At Tipperary House, we want to ensure that you have a lovely time while in Dublin during and after the Festival. Our in-depth local knowledge and proximity to the city’s main train stations, Heuston Station, Guinness Storehouse, Kilmainham Gaol, and several other points of interest in the city is a unique reason why you should choose to lodge with us.

Hi Guys and Girls ,

What a year it is to visit Dublin with there being so much going on ! 2016 is of course the 100 year anniversary of the 1916 Rising and every where you go in the city you cant help but be reminded of this . There are exhibitions , plays , tours , marches and commemorations being held nearly everyday .
We are very lucky in our location that we are right smack bang in the middle of all this , beside us we we have Collins Barracks Museum which has some great exhibitions for the 1916 Rising such as Proclaiming A Republic: The 1916 Rising, an exciting new exhibition opening 3rd March 2016 will explore the ideas, movements and personalities of early 20th century Ireland, the dramatic events of Easter Week 1916, the impact it had on the city and its citizens, and the Irish nation as a whole.
Across the Liffey and just a 10 min walk we have Kilmainham Gaol which in my opinion is probably the best tour in Dublin ! You will get a guided tour of the gaol and be brought into the cells and see where the leaders of the Rising spent their last hours and see the infamous court yard where they met their faith!
There is so much going on I cant mention everything but lastly id like to recommend the Dublin Bus 1916 Tour which gives a very unique tour through the city with actors on the bus and of course you can get your tickets for this from us at the Tipperary House Dublin at discounted prices .
If you are planning on coming to Dublin for any of these events dont forget you can leave your back packs and luggage with us at the tipperaryhousedublin.com we provide luggage storage for the public and are open 7 days a week from 8am-8pm and charge €5 per bag.
If you are coming to stay in Dublin book early and book direct on our website for the best rates and availability

All the best for now

Coming through the Phoenix Park this morning, I just had to stop and take some quick photos before I went into serve our guests breakfast. It was a beautiful frosty morning and the park looked stunning. The sun was rising and everywhere you looked you could see the sparkle and shimmer of the heavy frost that covered the mature trees, meadows and cycle lanes that make up this huge Park.

The Phoenix Park sits along side Tipperary House Bed & Breakfast and slopes down to the banks of the river Liffey, it is over 350 years old and covers more than 700 hectares which makes it one of the largest enclosed parks in any European City. I didn’t see any of the 500 strong herd of deer that live in the Park. Perhaps they were on the other side of the woods or like our guests in the Bed & Breakfast were still asleep recovering from their nights revelry in Dublin City Centre at the NYE Festival.

When I got into Tipperary House, our guests were trickling down for breakfast and all seemed to have had a great night in Dublin celebrating with friends at the free concert in College Green. Although tired and a little blurry eyed, the guests came to life and started to tell tales of the previous night of fun and partying in the various pubs and clubs of Dublin.

After the breakfasts, there was the usual mass exodus of tired but happy guests checking out and running for the Airlink Bus for the airport or the quick dash from our front door across to Heuston Station to catch various trains.

We have had lovely guests over the year and made some great new friends. Hopefully 2015 will be as good a year and everyone who comes to stay in Tipperary House and see Dublin loves our little B&B and our little City as much as we do!
So from myself and my family, all that’s left to say is Happy New Year everybody !!!

Mark

Our boutique family-run B&B was refurbished and redecorated in 2013 with soft colours to give it a cute and homely vibe with a vintage twist.

From floral patterns to bunting, candle lights, you will feel relaxed and comfortable here.

Our B&B is ideal for families, couples, small groups, and independent travelers who are looking for some peace and quiet in Dublin city centre.

We have triple glazed windows to keep the sounds of the city out and far enough away from the noisy nightlife found in Temple Bar to help you get a good night’s sleep.

Of course we’re close enough to the city centre – 20 minute walk, 10 minutes by Luas and 5 minutes by taxi if you want to experience the buzz.

Arriving late? Don’t worry, our night porter who stays onsite is always there for late check-ins.

Contact us here.
